I know — soup in summer sounds like a contradiction. But in my kitchen, it’s always welcome.

Summer doesn’t ask for heavy meals. It asks for light touches. For brightness. For bowls that feel like sunlight — cool, delicate, refreshing.

A chilled cucumber soup with yogurt and dill. A roasted tomato blend with fresh basil. Maybe something floral, maybe something citrusy.

This season reminds me to trust the ingredients. I don’t have to do too much. A good tomato needs very little. A ripe zucchini, barely cooked, speaks for itself. In summer, I let flavors lead. I get out of the way.

I cook with windows open. I slice fruit and vegetables barefoot. I sip soup from smaller bowls, sometimes cold, sometimes just warm enough to comfort but not weigh down.

Summer is about ease. About letting go of perfection. About doing less, and tasting more.

It’s about a bowl in one hand and the hum of life all around you.
So yes, soup belongs in summer too.

And I hope these lighter, brighter recipes find a place in your season — between garden walks, early evenings, and the golden glow that only summer brings.

With lightness,
